Carla Millar is a Canadian-American and has lived in New York City since 2005. Before that she spent her youth in Canada, and has also lived in London, England. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BFA Honors degree, and has been freelancing since 2003. As an illustrator with a background in fine art painting, she believes in the power of the figurative, and the impact of detail, to affect the thoughts and emotions of the viewer.
Specializing in illustration, oil painting, comic art, and character design, she has been regularly commissioned for magazine editorial and cover illustrations, books, game card art and social media illustrations.
Among her clients are political and current affairs magazines and websites — such as The Spectator (UK) and ConservativeHome (UK), ThoughtFull, New Dawn, and publishers, including Torazzi Press (graphic novel Eutopia 2055), and Crossroad Publishing Company (graphic novel The Grand Inquisitor), Opus One Studios (the comic Johnny Vet: America's Original Superhero) and game card creators Warlord (Phoenix-Interactive) and Herobits Corp. She has also created illustrations and branding work for Panopick, a Sports Betting App, and magazine covers and layout design for Country Squire Magazine (UK).
She has an NFT collection on OpenSea, (on the Polygon chain) called "Killer Pigeons".
